The Hungry Dragon

by David Rosenberg, author

By 2016, second term president William Claymore, struggles with political infighting that stagnates vital improvements in American social and economic programs. Media reporters criticize possible solutions and bias frustrated citizens against his administration. New China Republic (NCR) leaders cast aside repressive communism and China becomes a nation of aggressive capitalists who increase efficiency and destabilize world economies. To maintain economic growth, the NCR government needs natural resources and they annex Russian territory by force.

Their new remote-controlled hypersonic aircraft with laser weaponry dominate the skies, while the United States government searches for an alternative to war between two superpowers. President Claymore, caught in a maelstrom of foreign and domestic crises, must contend with the First Lady's terminal illness. When the president's extra-marital relationship with his biographer, Genevieve Hollings, threatens to destroy the First Family, the scandal enrages the nation's citizens. Mocked as the 'do nothing president', Claymore seems powerless to stop NCR military initiatives while embroiled in domestic chaos.

About David...

David is an author and lecturer from Liverpool, New York.

'The Hungry Dragon' won the Wizards of Words 2008 Book of the Year Award. This is the second time David has won. ('Infusion of Evil, won in 2007.)

David has a new book, 'The Obvious Answer' that will be released this March.

In David's words: "My books are political thrillers, but the work in progress, takes me in a different direction. I'm working on a crime thriller titled, 'Over the Edge'. I do most of my writing during the winter months, but this year I'm a bit behind schedule only 25,000 words in the hopper, but that's improving daily now that other tasks are out of the way. This book is a fictional commentary of society acceptance of degrading normalcy. Right now I've reached critical mass where the characters begin telling me what to write. They gather impatiently for me to press the keys and get on with it.

In addition to writing, I enjoy making presentations at writer's conferences. The Wizards of Words writer's organization taps me on the shoulder for 3-4 hours of presentation effort. Last year's conference was in Scottsdale, Arizona, and I've been asked to participate this year in Las Vegas. My presentations center on author motivation and manuscript development for the most important person in literature--the reader. In this year's presentation, I plan to include more information for authors on finding and using a successful mentor."
